Features

Courses that get you playing, not a video library.

Instruzic organizes your learning into modules, ties every lesson to your instrument and gives you feedback throughout your practice. Here is what the app does, with screenshots to show it.

Program

You always know where you stand.

Your program is split into levels, then into modules of four lessons. The Courses screen shows your next lesson, what it covers and what is left in the module.

  • Five levels per instrument (four for kora)
  • One module = four lessons, then an assessment
  • A placement test so you start at the right level

Practice

Every lesson goes through your instrument.

After the explanation, you play. Each exercise gives you the instruction, the hand and the tempo, lets you listen to the model, then turns on the microphone only if you ask it to.

  • A recorded audio model to listen to before you play
  • The microphone on request, never in the background
  • Each exercise tells you whether it is scored or not

Feedback

An answer for every exercise.

You see right away whether your answer is correct, with a short explanation. Questions come back until the concept sticks, and an assessment completes the module.

Microphone listening

What the microphone can do depends on the instrument.

Before you play, the app shows its listening level on the exercise. When the microphone is used, the sound is analyzed on your device.

  • Scored listening

Piano, guitar and voice. The app recognizes sustained notes and shows an estimated score based on your device’s microphone input.

  • Experimental listening

Kora. Recognition is experimental: the app may fail to detect some notes or passages. It is labelled as such.

  • No automatic scoring

Violin and flute. You play the exercises, but no notes are recognized; the result is marked “not assessed by the device”.

  • Always on your request

The microphone only turns on for the exercise that needs it, after you give permission, and never in the background.

Progress

Today’s practice, all in one place.

The dashboard picks up your current lesson, your daily goal (5, 15 or 30 minutes) and how far along your program you are. Everything is tied to your account, on the web today and on mobile when it launches.

  • The lesson to resume, in one tap
  • A daily practice goal
  • A certificate at the end of the program

Offline

The web app needs a connection. In the mobile app, once it launches, lessons you have already opened stay available without a network, images and audio included; a result earned offline is kept on hold, then sent when the connection returns.

Your microphone, your data

The microphone only works during an exercise you started. For unscored exercises, the microphone reading stays in your browser and is never sent. The details are in the privacy policy.

Try it with your instrument.

The first module of every instrument and the placement test are free, no credit card needed.
