Method

A method written instrument by instrument, to get you playing.

Each program links lessons, models to listen to and exercises. Every module prepares the next, and an assessment confirms what you have learned before the next part opens.

The lesson loop

Understand, practise, get feedback, check your progress.

  1. 01

    Understand

A short explanation connects the concept to the sound, the movement and what you want to play.

  2. 02

    Practise

Guided practice, then exercises on your instrument, with a model to listen to.

  3. 03

    Get feedback

An answer for every exercise, and microphone listening where it is reliable.

  4. 04

    Check your progress

An end-of-module assessment, which you take when you feel ready.

Structure

Levels, modules, lessons.

A program has five levels (four for kora). Each level is made of modules; each module, of four lessons and an assessment. A lesson always follows the same thread: an explanation, guided practice, a tip, then exercises.

  • Lessons in the recommended order, with their length
  • An assessment to unlock the next module
  • A certificate at the end of the program
Instruzic web app, the “C position, right hand” module of the piano program: two of four lessons passed, the next lesson and the module assessment

Start at the right level

You choose your instrument, then a placement test of about ten minutes finds your level. Your program starts there, without making you redo what you already know.

With or without a teacher

Instruzic structures your daily practice and keeps a clear record of how far you have come. With a teacher, it adds to the work between lessons; on your own, it gives you landmarks so you are no longer moving forward at random.

Principles

What guides how the courses are written.

  • One concept at a time

Each exercise tackles a specific difficulty and puts it back into a musical context, to avoid mechanical repetition.

  • Real sounds

Your ear is trained on real recordings; when a lesson relies on a generated sound, it says so.

  • Say what is missing

The app tells you what the microphone can do on each exercise, rather than promising listening it does not have.

  • Technology steps aside

It should bring you closer to music, then know when to stay quiet while you play.
